Week Too

Okay, week two has come to an end without any obvious problems arising. As of this point, everyone should be flawlessly navigating webCT, submitting assignments, reading and posting in the discussion board. Everyone should also have their ISTE & Task Stream subscriptions and have a password page begun that includes all of the necessary user names and passwords you need so far in this course (Yahoo, ISTE, Task Stream, EdTechProfile). I will ask for a copy of your password page electronically to ensure you have all of the necessary stuff. You should also have your mass storage devices fully functional!!

The first assignment, the Intro Letter, was officially due on Thursday evening. As I told everyone who was listening, most of our assignments will be due Thursday evening for all three classes. That way, there should be no misunderstandings as to when things are due.

Week two also saw the introduction of two new assignments, Yahoo! Bookmarks & the EdTechProfile. I noticed that the instructions for the Yahoo Bookmarks need a bit of clarification as to what to put into the title box and what exactly to bookmark, but the point of the assignment is to introduce the concept of bookmarks, to show all of the future tech-using educators that there is an amazing amount of resources available on the Web (You will no longer have to reinvent the wheel—not that any of you actually invented the wheel, but you know what I mean ;~), and to see if ya'll are capable of surfing the Net. I will go over how to submit the web archive on Tues/Wed so don't panic if you can't figure it out yet.
The EdTechProfile assignment is a way to assess where you stand at this point and time in regards to your technology proficiency. I know that the questions assume you are currently teaching, but for the most part, it's a nice tool. It will also be a way for you all to see if there is at least one area in which you see improvement at the end of the semester. This assignment was also meant to model a way of presenting a lesson without the instructor leading the way. We'll discuss this method of lesson delivery in class this week.
Both assignments are due February 4 (Sat) by 11 pm.

In week three we will be discussing our journal reading/assignments and begin our newsletters.
